Welcome.

I hope you are all having a great summer and enjoying great weather, wherever you are.

I thought I would do a video message to reach out to stakeholders, Veterans and their families about issues that are important to me, and hopefully to you as well.

I feel that this summer is a critical time for shaping the future by making our views known on the type of policies and programs we want to see in place for Canada’s Veterans and their families.

I’ve also been speaking to stakeholders, Veterans and their families and I have been using my voice to make sure that their views have been heard by policy-makers and government officials.

I have been advocating for a caregiver benefit for those who are working hard to take care of our Veterans, as well as treatment benefits for families in their own right.

I have been speaking to the Minister of Veterans Affairs Canada about these issues.

Although these were not in the Minister’s mandate letter, I want to make sure that he and departmental officials understand how crucial these benefits would be in recognizing and compensating the families who stand behind our Veterans.

I encourage you to visit my blog to learn more about my views on these issues.

If you, like me, believe these are important issues for the Veterans’ community, then I urge you to make your views known directly to Veterans Affairs Canada through their web consultation.

I look forward to continuing to work with stakeholders, Veterans, and their families and others who take Veterans’ issues at heart.
