An 80+ year-old surviving spouse contacted our office for help after waiting almost two years for Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) to pay Disability Pension survivor benefits that had been awarded to her by the Veterans Review and Appeal Board.
RESULT
VAC attributed the delay to an administrative error and processed the payment.
The surviving spouse received the retroactive survivor pension benefits she was owed, as well as ongoing monthly payment of the full survivor’s pension.
