Warrant Officer (retired) Mario Fortin, CD, served Canada for more than three decades. After beginning his career with the Fusiliers Mont-Royal, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves before transferring to the Regular Force of the Royal 22e Régiment. During his military career, he took part in numerous international operations and missions, notably in Germany, Norway, the former Yugoslavia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Haiti, Lithuania and Afghanistan, where he held various leadership positions. He also helped train Canadian and allied military personnel throughout his career.
Since retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces, WO Fortin has continued his commitment to the veterans’ community. As the president of branch 173 (Montréal-East) of the Royal Canadian Legion since 2018, he has devoted time, energy and resources to revitalizing the branch, helping to increase membership, and creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for veterans and their families. Recognized for his leadership, generosity and dedication to the community, he continues to have a lasting, positive impact on the lives of many veterans.
