November 26, 2025, OTTAWA, ON – Today, in a virtual ceremony, the Veterans Ombud Colonel (Ret’d) Nishika Jardine was honoured to recognize seven individuals and one organization with the 2025 Veterans Ombud Commendation.
Presented annually, the award acknowledges the dedication, hard work and selfless motivation of those who make significant contributions to the well-being of Veterans and their families.

I have met countless people all across this country who devote themselves to helping our CAF and RCMP Veterans and their families. I am truly grateful to the nominators who took the time and effort to bring to our attention these outstanding individuals and organizations, so that we could acknowledge them in this small way for their selflessness and in making a tangible a difference for our Veteran community. - The Office of the Veterans Ombud has been awarding Commendations since 2010.
- Commendation recipients are nominated annually by their peers and selection is made by the Veterans Ombud, in consultation with the Veterans Ombud Advisory Council.
- The Office of the Veterans Ombud investigates complaints and challenges the policies and decisions of Veterans Affairs Canada where we find individual or systemic unfairness. We strive to be an independent and respected voice for fairness and a champion for the well-being of Veterans and their families.
